Sher-Al Team Dominates Ottawa Horse Show
With
3 loaded horse trailers and a convoy, several Sher-Al riders, coaches and
parents made their way to the National Capital Show Jumping Tournament in
Ottawa, August 10 - 21, 2011.
And, while they were there, they pulled out all the stops and showed the show jumping community that they are a force to be reckoned with bringing home a wall full of ribbons for both jumper and hunter.
Congratulations to all! We are so proud!
The smile tells it all :-)

Mikala Chesler Wins Paul Scriver Award
Sher-Al
Farm has been producing champion riders and horses for decades but it is the
new young riders that are now amazing the crowds and catching the attention
of those in the industry. One such rider is Mikala Chesler, daughter of Sher-Al's
owner Alan Chesler and sister to international show jumper Frankie Chesler.
Mikala was honoured with the Paul Scriver Memorial Trophy at the CSI** Summer Festival which is organized by the Equestrian Management Group at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, Ontario. This award is presented each year to a rider who has earned the most points in the 1.20m, 1.30m and 1.40m divisions earning them the Junior/Amateur Grand Champion status. Mikala also earned champion in the 1.30m Junior/Amateur division.
Chesler was quite overwhelmed hearing the news and in utter disbelief, however genuinely happy, grinning ear to ear. The end of August marks one year that she has been riding since trading skating for riding. She remarked, “I am so happy to have my dad, Alan coach me and love Cavalier D’Or. He is so brave. When I skated, my scores were announced and always compared to those previous and today definitely was ‘my personal best.” All in all it was a super fantastic great week.

Mikala Chesler Wins Emerging Rider Award
The
Summer Classic Horse Show, which is held at the Caledon Equestrian Park each
summer, draws some of the biggest names in the show jumping world. The entertainment
value of the Grand Prix is priceless to everyone that attends.
However, it isn't just the GrandPrix that showcases the most talented riders, it is also where riders who want to advance to the next level of difficulty get a chance to show their stuff too. A designated class combines heights of 1.15m to 1.20m with widths of 1.30m, as well as a liverpool water jump and triple combination, and has entries of all ages (no professionals or members of the Jump Canada Talent Squad) who, along with their talented mounts, battle it out for the honour of being the Jump Canada Emerging Rider winner.
During the Summer Classic (June 19/20) the winner of this prestigious class was our very own Mikala Chesler on Sher-Al Farm's Dutch Warmblood mare Wilhemina. They were one of 8 teams that went clear and moved on to the jump-off where they pulled out all the stops and jumped to victory of the class.
We are so proud of Mikala and look forward to seeing her continue to bring home the top prizes as she advances to even bigger heights.
Mark your calendars and plan a visit to Sher-Al Farm between
September 24th and October 2nd as we take
part in a 9-day celebration of equine excellence. DESTINATION EQUITATION
is the only event of its kind in
Ontario, and will provide visitors and industry enthusiasts an opportunity
to experience and take part in a
variety of equine related activities.
